Your GitHub profile is more than a list of repos — it is often the first portfolio a recruiter or collaborator opens.
A few curated profile README templates and helper repos make it much easier to present who you are, what you build, and how you work.
Getting started
Chris Coyier’s article The GitHub Profile Trick walks through the special username/username README that becomes your public profile page.
From there you can add:
- A short bio and current focus
- Featured projects with links
- Skills, tools, and contact links
- Optional stats or contribution highlights
Why it matters
Hiring managers rarely dig through every commit. A clear profile README gives them context in seconds and points them to the work you want them to see.
Treat it like a living resume: keep it updated, keep it honest, and link out to demos when you can.
